Janitor and Shopkeeper interview scenes in Photoshop and Flash
In these two scenes the detective the Janitor and the Shopkeeper (separately). In the interviews the facial expressions of the suspects change as they are responding to the questions so the expressions are animated but have a "choppy" effect. To achieve this i went into Adobe Photoshop and deleted the bluescreen background from the close-up pictures of the suspects (Edit> Clear), desaturated the images to make them black and white (Image> Adjustment> Desaturate) and changed the image size to 650 x 435 (Image> Image size) before importing them into Flash.
Once in Flash i added a Trace Bitmap effect to the facial expressions (Modify > Bitmap >Trace Bitmap) then created new movie clips for each set of expressions so that they can be animated to look like the suspect is actually speaking. The text was also made in movie clips so that they could have a "type on" kind of effect.

Production Progress
We booked the blue screen room out to film some parts of the project and here's some photos to show our working progress as we go on.
Josephine Lee, Sarah's cousin, came in to help take photos. The 2 slideshows are pictures that we've all taken.

Games Logo Research
Here are some examples of existing logo’s that have been used to promote computer games.
Grand Theft Auto IV

The first logo is from the computer game Grand Theft Auto 1V. The first thing that you notice when looking at the logo is does not have any imagery, the main focus of the logo is the text itself. The size and the simple style of the text also ensures that the logo is easy to read and eye catching in a subtle way .It is worth noting that all pervious Grand theft Auto games have used the same logo to be consistent.
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures

The next logo is from the Legend of Zelda computer game. The logo has a number of strengths; the font used and the effects put on the text (especially the word “ZELDA”) make the writing stand out. The colours that have been used all seem to go well together to make the overall end product look flawless. The imagery used is of a very professional quality and also states that Swords are going to be the main feature of the game without having to read the text.
Quake II

The third logo is taken from a computer game Quake II. Although the logo has strengths such as being simple the font used for the game name is very hard to read. That being said I do like the way the logo is laid out to make the symbol in the middle the main focus rather than the text.

Noir Music Research
We are going to have Noir music though out our interactive game to go with the overall Noir theme, so here are a few examples of Noir music used in various movies to give us inspiration for our game.

Music from Noir films such as ‘Born to Kill’ (1947), “Screne of the Crime” (1949), “Murder My Sweet” (1944) and many more.

Typography Research
We decided to do some typography research to see what types of font there is and which one suited our project best.
This research was done by Sarah Chiu and Sharon Bains, the first typography picture was done by Sarah Chiu.
